All Saints' Western Springs is looking for a rector! DOWNLOAD our PARISH PROFILE by LINKING HERE.
Governed by the Bishop and guided by the Constitution and Canons of the Episcopal Church, All Saints’ is following the faithful and holy process of discerning our next rector. The Vestry has appointed a Rector Search Committee to oversee this process. As we move forward, the search committee and Vestry will provide regular updates. Our aim is a transparent search process with robust input from the parish. Due to the sensitive nature of the search process, candidates for the position will remain confidential until the time a call is accepted.
All Saints' Western Springs began the search process February 2020. By February 11th, the wardens had recruited 2 co-chairs and had a list of potential team members. By late February we had a team of 8 plus a spiritual director.
Our team is:
On February 27th, the co-chairs met with Andrea Mysen and Greg Millikin from the Diocesan Office of Transition Management (OTM). They have guided us and provided the us with the tools we need to make this happen. These diocesan resources have been invaluable. So, in total, we have had 11 people working on this for close to a year.
Then COVID descended on us. The process was put on hold until the world, the country, the state, the village, the church and the people figured out how to function while being stalked by a deadly virus. We resumed the process in earnest on June 23rd. So, 4 months were lost to COVID. Since then, we have moved at a very fast pace to make up for those 4 months. Ironically, Zoom has helped make meetings more nimble and more efficient. We've also relied on our own texting thread to communicate quickly. Texting supplanted phone calls, which decreased turnaround time. Both of these technology advancements have made this process more efficient.
Our Parish-wide steps have included the following:
Our job posting was posted through March 14th, a diocesan requirement. Recently, the team underwent diocesan training for interviewing candidates. The OTM diocesan office is responsible for vetting any applicants and once all their checks are complete, they will pass them onto our team. Once we get diocesan go-ahead, we will begin interviews that will be followed by site visits.
All Saints has been blessed to have the opportunity to interview several candidates for the rector position. At this time, initial interviews are being scheduled through mid-May. Please keep the candidates and committee in your prayers during this time of discernment.
